Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the development and submission of grant proposals, building and maintaining Rekor’s grant strategy, and maintaining familiarity with federal and state funding opportunities.

The Contribution:

  • Responsible for pursuing new federal funding and grant opportunities, acting as the project manager throughout the process, from NOFO to submission.[MH3]
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources of funding is required.
  • Compile necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other departments and public agencies.
  • Coordinate the application process with external stakeholders to ensure a successful submission.
  • The role will work in conjunction with our Sales, Proposals, Product, and Marketing, teams to set priorities and ensure effective and timely submittal.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain a company-wide grant strategy.
  • Track opportunities and manage eligibility requirements for state and national funding opportunities.
  • Assist with progress reports, non-competing applications, amendments, and sub-awards.
  • Monitor trends in government funding, legislation, and policies.
  • Review completed applications for accuracy, responsiveness, and compliance with stated requirements.
  • Develop and implement reporting and tracking systems for current and future funding opportunities.
  • Responsible for ongoing review and analysis of processes and actively contributing to process improvements.
  • Creation of new systems through which we can better surface and streamline the opportunity capture process.
  • Manage a part-time/contracted/seasonal grant writer.

Success will evidence itself in the following ways:

  • Grant Applications Submitted: Number of grant applications submitted within a given period.
  • Grant Applications Approved: Percentage of submitted applications that are approved.
  • Total Funding Secured: Total amount of funding secured through successful grants.
  • Success Rate: Ratio of successful grant applications to total applications submitted.
  • Project Completion Rate: Percentage of funded projects that are completed successfully.
  • Time to Award: Average time from grant application submission to award notification.
  • Internal engagement – marketing visibility, ongoing training, in-person interactions (visits/conferences), etc.

Ideal Profile:

We need a highly personable, detail oriented, and research focused individual who is knowledgeable about and/or interested in federal/state/local funding mechanisms and policy.

You bring the following competencies to the role:

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years of grant administration (one full grant cycle) required
  • 1-2 years of project management required
  • 1 year of demonstrated policy research/experience
  • 2-3 years of internal and external client process management required
  • Previous successful grant writing experience preferred
  • Grant experience in the transportation sector preferred
  • Previous technology industry experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of US political landscapes preferred
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Confident to work independently while collaborating with other teams
  • Ability to manage competing responsibilities and prioritize accordingly
  • Proven track record to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong MS Office suite proficiency
