About the Role:
FluidAI is revolutionizing the way surgeons and healthcare practitioners care for their patients. As the company expands into new markets and scales our operations, identifying and harnessing diverse funding sources, opportunities, and partnerships are crucial for our trajectory. We are currently seeking a Business Development Technical Writer who will help drive the identification and penetration of non-diluted funding opportunities, utilizing deep industry insights and a strategic approach to propel FluidAI’s growth. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical and business writing and communication skills, with a proven track record of professional experience in business, technical and clinical writing. They should also have experience in project management and coordinating communication among internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient completion of detailed documents. The candidate is a member of the Business Development team and will work closely with the Operations and Executive teams, as well as cross-functionally, to ensure that projects strategically align with company objectives. The Business Development Technical Writer will play a critical role in securing funding to support the organization's mission and initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and supporting business growth strategies with a focus on non-dilutive funding opportunities.
- Researching and identifying grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with the executive and technical teams to develop a thorough application strategy that optimizes eligibility criteria and maximizes funding.
- Synthesizing, summarizing, and organizing documents, data, and budget information from and for various stakeholders and applications.
- Writing compelling and concise documents, demonstrating clarity and persuasiveness to effectively secure opportunities.
- Adhering to deadlines and timelines, while ensuring strict compliance with eligibility criteria and requirements.
- Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders through clear, ongoing communication.
- Supporting the company’s marketing and strategic communications efforts by producing quarterly newsletters, investor-facing documents, and presentation decks as needed.
- Identifying opportunities to increase company visibility and support business development efforts.
- Monitoring funding landscapes and industry trends to proactively position FluidAI for success.
This is an office-first role working out of our Kitchener HQ in the Medical Innovation Xchange.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 3+ years of proven experience in technical writing in the medical technology industry.
- Exceptional research skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and distill insights from diverse business, technical, and clinical sources.
- Strong written communication skills with a sharp eye for detail and a clear understanding of business needs and strategy.
- Autonomous work ethic coupled with the capacity to engage effectively in team-driven initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience in technical writing with the ability to think creatively, tailor content for different audiences, and incorporate business storytelling to clearly communicate complex technological and scientific ideas in a clear and simple manner.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with other relevant technological tools.
Bonus Qualifications
- A track record of securing grant funding or SR&ED tax credits, with particular commendation for achievements in the healthcare domain.
- Proficiency in grasping complex technical concepts, especially those related to artificial intelligence and medical device technologies.
- Relevant professional experience within clinical settings or the medical technology industry, demonstrating a practical understanding of the sector’s unique challenges and opportunities.
