AboutThe Student Research Accelerator is an enrichment program in which research mentors guide high school students and early undergraduate students towards an academic publication.Research Mentors provide 33 hours of mentorship (22 hours of video conferencing and 11 hours of emailing) and aim to accomplish the following learning outcomes over a period of 8-12 months. All mentorship is completed remotely.Research Mentors are rigorously selected and tested for their communication skills, passion for youth research, reliability and punctuality.QualificationsThe successful candidate meets the following criteria:• Currently a PhD Candidate, Postdoctoral Fellow, Adjunct Professor, Retired or Emeritus Professor• Previously published papers in peer-reviewed journals• Passionate about student research (e.g., formulating research question, conducting an experiment/analysis, writing a full paper)• Past experience with mentoring high school students (i.e., national science fairs) or undergraduate students, as well as volunteer work with young students (i.e., coaching a sports team) is strongly desired• Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills• Comfortable with using G-SuiteThe RoleThe successful candidate meets the following criteria:• Is organized, committed and flexible• Can devote up to 2 hours a week to mentorship activities for 8-12 months• Work with a Research Coordinator that supports student learning and program completionApplication• Please provide a cover letter and resume that mentions your experience with mentoring students.
