The Community Healthcare Coalition of Greater Prince William (CHCGPW) is working on a community health assessment (CHA) to learn about the health of our community. Information is collected about what health problems are affecting community members, what services are available, and what needs to improve. We get this information from health data, surveys, and community conversations. By having community members tell us what they need, we can work to create programs and services that make our community healthier. We are looking for community members to lead conversations in the community! Position Title: Volunteer Community Liaison Organization: Community Healthcare Coalition of Greater Prince William Location: Prince William County, VA; Manassas City, VA; Manassas Park, VA Hours: 5-15 hours per week (Flexible) Duration: Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 (Flexible) Position Overview: We are looking for two types of volunteer community liaisons:
- Volunteer Community Liaison who leads a community conversation in English
- Bilingual Community Liaison who leads a community conversation in either Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, or Urdu
- Both types of community liaisons will be required to attend a facilitation training for two hours (online and/or in-person) to prepare the liaison with the skills to lead a great conversation. This training will be a great skill set to add to your resume.
- Bilingual Community Liaisons will be invited to complete an 8-hour lay interpreter training offered online by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services in October or November 2024. This is a valuable step to becoming a certified Interpreter
- If you are 18+, care about the health of your community, and looking for a way to get involved, this might be a great fit for you. If you are active duty or retired military, aligned with the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled, and/or an advocate for local teens, we would love your help with community conversations. If you speak Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, and/or Urdu, we especially hope you’ll consider volunteering!
