You will be instrumental in ensuring the successful application of ONT's groundbreaking products within the scientific community, working closely with our sales team to position ONT as the preferred supplier of solutions for their research.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Director of Field Applications (Southern Region), this highly technical and customer-facing role involves providing high-quality technical expertise, consultancy, and representation for Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Work closely with the sales team, providing effective technical expertise and back-up support to customers and prospective customers within your territory (and other regions).
- Provide pre-sales support, including delivering presentations, seminars, and technical calls.
- Support customers through all stages of technology adoption, including experimental design, use of ONT’s software, and data analysis.
- Offer specialized expertise to assist with complex and highly technical customer inquiries, focusing on ONT’s technology.
- Manage key customer relationships from a technical perspective to ensure success using Oxford Nanopore products.
- Participate in the organization and running of seminars, exhibitions, and similar activities at key accounts and congresses.
- Track, record, and document all technical inquiries into the CRM system.
- Monitor market developments and competition, reporting your findings to the wider team.
- Liaise with the Technical Support and Customer Solutions Departments as required.
What You’ll Bring (Qualifications & Experience)
- Educational Background: A PhD in life sciences (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related fields) or equivalent commercial experience.
- Commercial Experience: Previous commercial experience in a support or customer-facing role is required.
- Technical Expertise:
- A solid background in laboratory experience with proven knowledge of genetics and molecular/cell biology.
- Theoretical and practical experience in novel experimental design, sample preparation methodologies (e.g., DNA isolation, fragmentation), and appropriate data analysis.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the technical competency to clearly discuss fundamental theory and principles.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent troubleshooting, writing, and editing skills.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office and ideally experience with SalesForce or a similar CRM database.
- Proficiency with data visualization and analysis techniques and programming languages such as R or Python (Numpy, Pandas) is helpful.
- Ability to work effectively with both internal and international departments. Fluency in other languages is an advantage.
- A confident presenter, comfortable presenting, teaching, or training other scientists.
Location & Travel
- Desired Location: Around Paris or Lyon.
- Travel: Frequent travel is expected as part of this role.
