  • Curious, hands-on, and driven to build, test, and iterate with a practical mindset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, computer, chemical, or biomedical engineering
  • Strong fabrication skills including CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred) and experience taking designs from concept to build
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial controls including ladder or IEC 61131 languages and PID tuning
  • Experience with instrumentation and PAT sensors
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used for data and automation such as Python
  • Experience with CFD in a tool such as Ansys or COMSOL or OpenFOAM
  • Familiarity with stirred tank and perfusion bioreactors using sterile techniques
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Experience working with fluid handling systems, including pumps, valves, and flow sensors

About Your Responsibilities

A list of representative responsibilities is listed here. A more detailed list of responsibilities will be shared after an NDA is in place.

  • Design and fabricate components and assemblies for lab and pilot equipment using CAD, machining, and additive manufacturing methods
  • Build and integrate sensors, actuators, pumps, and fluid handling hardware into cell compatible systems
  • Set up PLC based control for bioprocess equipment and implement PID control loops
  • Configure data logging, alarms, and basic SCADA or HMI screens for equipment operation
  • Run CFD studies for mixing, shear, gas transfer, and heat removal to inform hardware design and scale up
  • Commission, maintain, and troubleshoot lab and pilot scale bioreactors and ancillary skids
  • Write test plans, execute experiments, and analyze data to validate designs and processes
  • Collaborate with biologists to ensure hardware meets sterility, biocompatibility, and usability needs
  • Create clear documentation including drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, SOPs, and reports
