What you'll be doing

Preparation Team Leaders ensure the smooth running of one of the busiest areas on site. They oversee the Preparation team receiving and preparing ingredients ready for use on our production lines. Together, they ensure that all of the different Prep stations and processes, including ingredient transfer, product decanting, slicing, dicing, opening and ingredient blending are working safely and effectively to produce Great Food in as sustainable a way as possible.

Key Activities

To ensure compliance with all site safe systems of work, safe operating procedures and general Safety, Health and Environment customs and practices, setting an example to your colleagues in the area. To ensure that we follow all Good Manufacturing Practices during our Preparation – including but not limited to regular hand washing, the wearing of overalls and hairnets and the coverage of ingredients. Monitor compliance and put corrective actions in place as necessary.
To ensure that all ingredients and mixes are prepared according to line requirements, working alongside the WIP Team Leader and Operatives to ensure we provide a good service to the assembly lines. To liaise with Goods in, ordering ingredients required for mixing or assembly as needed.
To monitor that traceability information is accurate on all ingredients, mixing sheets is accurate and put in place corrective action if necessary. To assist the area Zone Manager with shift start up checks and ensure the area is prepared for operation at the start of each shift.
To work as a team to ensure that tasks are undertaken as efficiently and effectively as possible to ensure that we can maintain excellent levels of service to the manufacturing lines. Ensure minimal ingredient wastage – especially that operatives are weighing all ingredients as required and stock is being rotated using a first in, first out approach.
Monitor ingredient use by dates and plans to ensure that the products we produce have sufficient available life for the finished assembled products. Lead the end of shift stock taking process, including re-checks to ensure that each stock check is as accurate as possible and processing disposals.
Follow all reasonable requests of site managers. * To escalate any issues with carrying out the above activities to your Line Manager in a timely manner.

Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday (Friday and Saturday off); 05.30 AM to 3 PM

What we’re looking for

Experience of working in a food production environment essential.

Experience of working in a role involving manual handling desired.

Experience of leading/overseeing a team desired (direct line management)

On the job training in all tasks and in using all machinery provided (no task specific experience necessary)
